Okay here it is. The best car in the world right now. This Taycan Turbo S defies all expectations. ALL OF THEM. From physically painful performance to comfort to civility to practicality…nothing comes close.

My former ‘best car in the world’ was the E63S Wagon. A vehicle that combines hilarious performance with Mercedes refinement and wagon practicality…the E63S is indeed a special car. But this Taycan Turbo S is more than that.

First off it’s quicker…wait scratch that. From an evolutionary standpoint the E63S is good ole 20th Century know how. A sensory overload of noise, mayhem and old school refinement combined into one fantastic vehicle.

The Taycan on the other hand is from the future. Actually the Taycan feels like it’s from an alternate future where we finally as a civilization has moved forward…instead of constantly looking over our shoulders to the past. It’s technology, science and engineering leading the way. Not focus groups, pundits or distorted reality mind fields that is social media. The Taycan Turbo S is a car that happens when you let engineers be well….ummm engineers.

And it shows in the way it Taycan drives. It doesn’t drive like you would assume it would (Model S competitor). It drives like a Porsche. Instead of Porschefying an electric car. What Porsche did was make a proper Porsche first then add the electrical bits.

Yes I know that probably did NOT happen but damnit to hell…that’s how it feels. Because it feels like a Porsche. So it feels analog, precise, accurate and that the Drive is the fundamental aspect of the vehicle. The Taycan has tenacious levels of grip and the power it delivers is brutal. The steering is precise, accurate and beautifully weighted. Let me put it another way:

The Taycan Turbo S laps the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta track faster than a GT3RS. Yes you read that right.

The interior is where the Taycan really shines. Now let me say this first. I’m a Elon Musk fanboy. But the Taycan interior’s blows the Model S out of the water. There is no design for the sake of design (ahem Model 3). The material quality is outstanding, the switchgear is substantial, the seats are excellent and the interior volume is gigantic.

So how do I sum up the Porsche Taycan Turbo S? I’ll say it once again. Best car in the world right now.
